Five People to Follow On Instagram for Multicultural Magic

Hello Meltingpot Readers,

True confession, I was totally late to the Instagram party. I’m still trying to figure it all out, BUT…I have discovered what Instagram is really good for. Inspiration. Sometimes I find myself just scrolling through my feed falling in love with all of the multicultural magic. I follow people who post about diverse children’s books and clothing brands made specifically for multiracial people. I follow artists and illustrators who see the world entirely as I do, in bold, brilliant colors. I follow bloggers who spot fusion food trends and parents whose mission it is to make the world a better place for their children. In other words, my Instagram feed is a curated collection of my favorite things.

Here are five of my favorite Instagram accounts that make me believe in multicultural magic.

Tamara Pizzoli

Dr. Tamara Pizzoli is the founder and publisher of The English Schoolhouse Boutique Publishing Company. A Black American woman based in Rome, Italy, her Instagram feed features the incredibly stunning art from her delightful, multicultural children’s books. Pizzoli’s books put Mother Goose to shame.

Liv_Multi

I just discovered Liv Multi on Instagram, a community of multicultural artists, creators and influencers. Their Instagram feed is like a visual education in all things multiracial, multicultural, multinational. Everyday they highlight a person, place or thing – like a restaurant that specializes in fusion Black American/Mexican food – that embodies the multi-lifestyle.

Travel Noire

Until I can travel the world on a whim and desire, I gaze longingly at Travel Noire’s beautiful images of beautiful Black people in beautiful locations. Also, they offer great travel advice.

The Art of Fun

Welcome to the world of award-winning children’s book illustrator Christian Robinson. His Art of Fun Instagram feed is as simple and whimsical as his drawings.

Instagram Artists Full of Multicultural Magic
A recent Instagram post from artist Misha Blaise.

Misha Blaise

Misha Blaise is an artist whose personal is political. Her paintings and illustrations are gorgeous, colorful and sometimes a little bit cheeky, but they are all done with a mission to celebrate diversity. Follow her for regular inspiration and/or if you want to buy some beautiful art.

      Thank you, Will.

  2. Gracias, Lori! Your book Kinky Gazpacho is my favorite about a Midwestern woman exchange student in Spain. I hope to follow in your footsteps and get my Supergringa in Spain published soon. I refer to your memoir in my post today.
