Facing Race Conference is a Perfect conference on diversity

Racing Toward Race Forward

Hello Meltingpot Readers,

If somebody wanted to create the perfect conference for Ms. Meltingpot to attend, it would have to be a conference where the unifying theme was race. The attendees and speakers would be activists, journalists, artists and academics. And the goal of the conference would be to find a way to dismantle racism and discrimination of all kinds across society.

Lucky for me, that conference already exists. It’s called Facing Race and it’s kicking off tomorrow, November 8 in Detroit, Michigan. Yours truly will be there with bells on. Of course I will be trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible, networking and looking for potential guests for my new podcast. But I’m also bringing a group of students with me from Temple University, so I’ll be serving as troop leader for them as well. I’m excited for it all.

Check out the impressive conference program with the amazing list of speakers and workshop leaders. I’ll be tweeting and posting on social media throughout the conference, so if you want to experience Facing Race vicariously through me, just watch my social media feeds. I’m going to apologize ahead of time because all of my posts from the conference will probably all be in caps and with lots of exclamation points because I’m going to be ALL THE WAY FIRED UP.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Peace!
