#FridayFavorites: Nailed It on Netflix

Hello Meltingpot Readers,

I’ve never pretended to have good taste when it comes to TV. I barely watch TV anymore, to be honest. But when I do have a minute, usually when I’m sitting on my couch folding laundry, I tend to enjoy cooking shows. But not the type of cooking shows where people have British accents and they make really fancy food. I like the type of show where the contestants are just regular people trying to find their way in the kitchen. I connect with these type of people and therefore, if they end up making something that looks and tastes delicious, it makes me think I might be able to do the same thing. Which is why, for babygirl’s birthday party, I’m actually going to attempt to make chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with pink and blue icing, from scratch. Yes, I’ve been watching Netflix’s original new cooking show, Nailed It and I figure if the home-cooks they get on that show can make a triple-layer unicorn cake, I can handle basic cupcakes. Right?

Rather than me explaining what Nailed It is all about, just watch the trailer.

One of the reasons I love this show is because I can watch it with all three of my kids. They all love it for different reasons ( one son loves baking, the other loves laughing at the crazy fails), there’s absolutely nothing offensive about it and bonus, there’s a Black female host so it meets my diverse cast requirements. The show is funny and informative and like I said above, it kind of demystifies the baking process. Even the New Yorker magazine gave it a glowing review!

Is anybody else here a Nailed It Fan? Do tell.

Wish me luck on those cupcakes, people. And enjoy your weekend.

Peace!
