The Meltingpot Got a Makeover – But We’re Not Quite Done Yet

Hello Meltingpot Readers,

How do you like our new look here at My American Meltingpot? I decided I wanted to update the design in honor of my return to blogging after an almost two-year hiatus.

This is our new logo. I totally love it.
I hope you like our snazzy new logo, designed by Mt. Airy-based graphic designer extraordinaire, Tesia Barone of Killer B. Creative. The rest of the new look has been done by yours truly, which is why it’s still a bit wonky. I’m still trying to iron out some kinks, so please bear with me. I promise to have some fresh new content for you on Wednesday, but today I’m still tinkering with this design.

In the meantime, if you’re just hankering for something Meltingpot-ish to munch on, check out this fascinating photo essay from the New York TimesNeither Black Nor White – on the Chinese American community in the Mississippi Delta.

You’re welcome.

Peace!

    Hi Jane,

I agree 100 percent about how diverse this country really is. Ergo, The Meltingpot. Also, I immediately thought about the movie, Mississippi Masala as well. Great minds!

I read it. I notice they carefully avoided discussing what each race in the Delta (white, Chinese or black) thought of each other. It also reminded me of the movie “Mississippi Marsala” about southeast Asian Indians in Missippi. It had a lot of Indian Asian and black interaction. There was 1 Chinese man in one shot. I don’t remember how whites were portrayed. This country is so much more diverse than we admit.
