Hello Meltingpot Community,
Yesterday I posted the following quote on my IG page:
For the last few, weeks as I’ve been contemplating the changes I want to make to my content creation agenda – on the blog, podcast and on social media – I’ve realized that I’m tired. Not, I need a nap tired, but existentially tired of begging people to stop being racist. Of explaining the same things over and over again about the pain racism inflicts and the power of diversity. It is exhausting, and I’m not really sure I’m making a dent in the problem.
My Anti-Racism Work Has to Change
So, I decided my anti-racism work has to change. I’m still working out the details, but I want people to come to MAMP to see diversity in action; to hear about people of color living their best lives; to learn about the multiracial history of this country (and others); and to see cultural collaborations that defy popular stereotypes. My purpose as a creator is tell stories that celebrate the beauty in diversity and likewise prove that white supremacy is a lie. Starting in 2021, I’m going to do just that. I hope you’ll join me for the fun.
Until 2021, stay well and Happy New Year!
Peace!
