Hello Meltingpot Readers,
One of my favorite hashtags to use on social media is #representationmatters. I’m also a big fan of #celebratediversity, as I’m sure you all know. But the thing is, these aren’t just meaningless hashtags to me. My whole life is a testament to diversity in action and I can’t help but notice when other people get diversity right. (Or wrong as the case may be.)
Whether it is just a visual – as in a nice Benetton advertisement – or it’s a genuine example of people, places or policies in action that foster and celebrate diversity, I get really excited. And I want to share that excitement with you dear readers, because we all know today’s world gives us plenty of reasons to believe diversity doesn’t work.
What Does Love Look Like?
So, today, I just wanted to share this song/video with you by Laura Pausini (FYI, Pausini is super famous throughout Europe.). The song is called “Nuestro Amor de Cada Dia” (Translation: Our Love Every Day). I first saw the video in Spain this summer and was immediately drawn in by Pausini’s voice and the story being told in the video. The lyrics are in Spanish, Pausini is Italian, but the visuals and message of the song are universal. You don’t need to speak Spanish to understand that love crosses any type of boundaries imposed by simple-minded humans. I’m not going to say anymore, just enjoy the music and the video. You’re welcome and Happy Monday.
Feel free to share some of your favorite songs that you think celebrate diversity. I’m totally listening.
Peace!
