Friday Favorites: Chima Brazilian Steakhouse

Hello Meltingpot Readers,

Today is Friday, which means I get to share some of my favorite things with you. I’m a simple girl so sometimes my favorite things may not seem so special to the average bear, but a good meal, time spent with my family and knowing nobody has to do the dishes is like heaven for this mom of three. Dear readers, I know you know what I mean.

Well, this past Wednesday evening our Meltingpot family took advantage of a dinner special at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse here in Philadelphia and I immediately knew this would be my Friday Favorite.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Chima, it’s one of those traditional rodizio style Brazilian restaurants where gauchos continuously serve you freshly grilled meats at your table and you eat until you can’t breathe. Wait, you don’t really have to eat that much, but the food is so good and the gauchos keep coming around with more and more succulent slices of pork, beef, lamb, chicken, sausages, and salmon that it almost seems rude not to consume your own weight in carnivorous delights. Not to mention the extravagant salad bar and bottomless tureens of rice and black beans planted conveniently in the middle of the swanky dining room. Even though el esposo and I both food-gasamed over the meat, we both agreed that we would have been happy just eating the rice and beans. They were really tasty and I already told you, I’m a simple girl at heart.

Beef, pork and lamb chops on display. So yummy.

I think my greatest pleasure though, was watching my kids enjoy this fine-dining extravaganza. They loved the food and they loved the cultural experience of the rodizio. Most of the gauchos were Spanish speakers, so we did most of our ordering and communicating in Spanish. We didn’t get to take a family trip this summer, so I appreciated being able to dress up and do something a little extravagant that was also a mini meltingpot experience. Total score. Thanks, Chima.

What about you, dear readers? What kind of meltingpot experiences have you had this summer, whether you stayed home or traveled? Do you have a favorite that you feel like sharing?

I’m totally listening (and still digesting.)

Peace!

Nice. I’ve been wanting to try one of these types of restaurants with my family. It sounds like quite the experience.

      Hi Angela,
It was really great. If you have kids with healthy appetites, you can really get your money’s worth. Alternatively, kids 6 and under eat free so, there’s that. Thanks for stopping by the Meltingpot.
