Hello Meltingpot Readers,
Today is Memorial Day, but if you live anywhere on the East Coast of the United States you might be in for a day of rain instead of picnics and outdoor activities.
One of my favorite places to hang out on a rainy day if I don’t have to go to work is a cozy independent bookstore. I’m super lucky because there are two indie bookstores within 10 minutes of my home in Philadelphia. But imagine hanging out in cool indie bookstore in Greece or Portugal. That would be the best of all things in life, books and dream destinations.
I stumbled upon this list on Lithub of The 10 Most Famous Bookstores in the World and immediately felt inspired to add some of these destinations to my future travel plans. Honestly, I don’t need to see all of these stores and I’ve been to the Strand in NYC already, but some of these other stores just seem too delicious to pass up.
What about you, dear readers? Have you been to any of these bookstores? Do you have any others that would make the list? If so, add them in the comments and maybe I’ll make my own curated meltingpot list of must-see indie bookstores.
Go ahead, don’t everybody shout at once! I’m listening.
Peace!

Rebecca,
Thanks for sharing! I’m going to be in Madison for a wedding in the fall and I’ll definitely stop by A Room of One’s Own!
Thanks for the bookstore destination travel inspiration link! We have a great independent bookstore here in Madison: A Room of One’s Own. A radical woman-owned purveyor of books downtown for 43 years! https://www.roomofonesown.com/
