Best of the Meltingpot: “Who Are You Calling Oriental?”

Hi Meltingpot Readers,

Yesterday was the first day of school for all of three of my babies. It’s official, I now have a 7th grader, a 4th grader and babygirl officially joined the Two’s class at her daycare. They grow up so fast. I can’t believe it.

And it’s the beginning of a new school year for me too, so I’m up to here in busy work and getting back into the groove of being supermom/super-professor/super-author so, I’m going to go into the Meltingpot vault and pull up an old post that still gets a lot of attention. It’s the one where I muse about the appropriateness of the word Oriental. Check the comments to see what people are saying. Do you have an opinion on the word?
