Hello Meltingpot Readers,
A little levity for Friday is in order, I believe. My son made me watch this video about a spoof on all of the Aid to Africa songs and collection efforts. In it, Africans are feeling sorry for the people of Norway whom they hear are freezing to death. So, they created a campaign – Radi-Aid – printed the t-shirts and wrote a song about sending radiators to the people of Norway. It’s really quite clever and funny. And for a spoof, the song is pretty good too.
There’s a little line on the website that explains what the spoof is really about. It reads, “Imagine if every person in Africa saw the “Africa for Norway” video and this was the only information they ever got about Norway. What would they think about Norway?” Check the video yourself. What do you think? Enjoy and have a delicious weekend.

Thanks for sharing. Too often the media shows negative images of all things related to Africa. There are many wonderful places, and people in Africa. Not long ago, I watched a TEDTalk and many of the speakers were from various countries around Africa. Their universal message was we don’t want aide, we want a partnership.
Cyretha,
Exactly. Not aid, partnerships.
