Mixie Families Unite In Response to Cheerios Haters

Hi Meltingpot Readers,

I am entering the final week of writing madness. My manuscript for the updated version of Hair Story is due a week from today. Yikes! Please send me good writing vibes and any recipes to feed a family of five that requires exactly five minutes of prep time. Is it wrong to feed your kids a steady diet of sandwiches for dinner?

Meanwhile, speaking of families. Have you all seen the new website, We are the 15 Percent?” It’s actually a Tumblr site started by an interracial couple in response to the negative backlash to that adorable Cheerios ad. The website features photos of interracial families and simply exists to show the haters that multiracial families live, love and eat cereal just like everybody else. If you’re so inclined, send in your family photos. Or, if you’re like me, just use the site as a procrastination technique, scrolling through and looking at all the adorable pictures.

That is all.

Peace!

    Hi,
This is an interesting statistic. Interracial couples now represent 15% of married couples and rising. I just wonder if the good ole GOP sees this? I know they did not pay attention to these numbers for the last election. That is part of the reason they were left standing and shaking their heads.

    Good luck with your writing!!!

Thanks, Cyretha. The 15% is a force to be reckoned with, I do believe. The GOP better recognize!
